Halloween Party: Leaders Of Men (as Joy Division) + The Misfigs (as The Misfits), B'dum B'dum (as The Buzzcocks), Warm Wet Rag (as Ween) at The Frequency
Of the assorted cover-band throwdowns going on this weekend, The Frequency's is the obvious best for lovers of the loud and freaky. Recently debuted local Buzzcocks tribute act B'Dum B'Dum (featuring Bucky Pope of the Tar Babies and a bouncy-tight rhythm section) will keep on working to harness the nerve-fried charms of essentials like "I Don't Mind" and "Orgasm Addict," while Leaders Of Men (post-punk band The United Sons Of Toil, plus Chris Vance on vocals) rip into the barren gloom of Joy Division's most aggressive material. Round it out with Misfits tribute The Misfigs and Ween covers from Warm Wet Rag, and it may be a rough night of both shout-along hooks and disorienting weirdness.
