Harmony Bar 20th Anniversary Party at Barrymore Theatre
The Harmony Bar's an essential part of what makes the Atwood neighborhood a homey yet wonderfully distinct part of Madison. Not only the most easygoing spot for a beer in that area, it also keeps the townies and baby boomers scootin' across its floor with a regimen of blues, country, funk, bluegrass, jazz, and even Cajun-music shows. The Harmony crowd, and many of its regular bands, move it just down the street Sunday to mark the bar's 20th anniversary. The Jim Schwall/Andy Ewen Band, The Midwesterners, The Jimmys, and Westside Andy/Mel Ford Band all add some local color. But the show also brings in such out-of-towners as Chicago blues outfit Cash Box Kings, who recently released a charming new album, I-94 Blues, and Columbia, Mo.'s The Bel-Airs, who headline with a steadily rocking pileup of blues, country, and soul. Bunky's Café will cater the show, and all donations go to the Goodman Community Center.
