Not just a perversely costumed band led by some guy named Count Jabula, Human Aftertaste is a whole trashy-ass media complex revolving around its fictitious namesake product, a meat-like mixture of substances that includes “testicular runoff,” “minor humanis digitoids,” and “malnutritioned yuppie consumers groping for an Advil and a latte” (at least according to the label on the can). Songs on the Iowa band’s album Loose Ends range from the thrashing “Gay Satanic Sex Orgy” to the role-switching “I Wanna Be Jesse’s Girl.” For some idea of how much thought its members have put into their personas, look up the seven episodes of their sicker-than-John Waters sitcom on YouTube.
