The Hussy, The Zygoteens, The Midwest Beat, and Screamin' Cyn Cyn And The Pons at The Frequency
Local garage-pop duo The Hussy's songs rarely run longer than two minutes, and in keeping with that M.O., it's so far just released its music a few tunes at a time in 7-inch vinyl installments. Here, it celebrates its third issue, a vinyl split with Milwaukee trio The Zygoteens. The Hussy's side consists of two songs, "Round And Round" and "Social Critique Of Madison," on which guitarist Robert Wegner and drummer Heather Sawyer channel their usual simple hooks, simple beats, and happily sloppy vocals. The Zygoteens' busted-speaker sound quality comes paired with catchier singing and an unpredictable sweet side on their songs, "No More" and "The River." This bill fills out nicely with garage-pop stompers from The Midwest Beat and punk-fabulous antics from fellow Madison staples Screamin' Cyn-Cyn And The Pons.
