In This Moment, In Fear And Faith, Agraceful, and Motionless In White at The Annex
In This Moment's Maria Brink is hardly the first or only melodic, polished female singer to front a metal band, but she may have the most crossover appeal for the American Idol set. All the more unexpected, then, that her melodrama-bloated vocal style should mesh as well as it does with the band's straight-charging, power-metal-lite hooks. In This Moment's sound got the complete carwash treatment on last year's The Dream, buffed to a shine by producer Kevin Churko (Britney Spears, Celine Dion), who was careful not to let the slick finish suffocate the guitars. While In This Moment often sounds like a far less technical and ferocious version of Century Media labelmate (Madison's own!) Luna Mortis, The Dream isn't exactly a misstep either.
