John Eddie at High Noon Saloon
John Eddie has accepted a life of writing and playing sturdy, plainspoken roots-rock songs for a modest audience, at least judging by the title of his 2003 Lost Highway release, Who The Hell Is John Eddie? And modesty suits his music: There might not be anything unusual about it, but he knows how to reach people with a lyric, whether it’s about love or getting old. Of all things, he had the dubious honor of Kid Rock covering one of his songs, “Low Life,” for his 2007 album Rock N Roll Jesus. Needless to say, Eddie’s version is a bit more likable. His latest, Same Old Brand, New Me, packs all kinds of wisdom into wide open, lovely country twang.
