event Joy And The Boy
-
Sat Aug 15
6:30 pm
Joy And The Boy at High Noon Saloon
Singer Joy Dragland and drummer/guitarist/producer Leo Sidran both have ties to Madison, and combine their varied backgrounds in jazz and pop music to create playful tunes under the name Joy And The Boy. They return here to celebrate the release of a new EP, Secret Place. Dragland's soft but smoky voice and some "ooh-ooh" harmonies lead the low-key acoustic ballad "Song For A Lover," and Sidran kicks up some busier rhythms on the flirtatious title track. Clearly Joy And The Boy isn't going for anything too urgent or mind-bending, but the duo finds a fun, comfortable groove as Dragland's melodies float over the tunes' lighthearted jazz-style progressions.
