During her nearly 30-year run as a comic, Kate Clinton has been almost as feverishly on-message as a partisan talk-radio host (though a great deal brighter and more likable), which means keeping current politics and queer advocacy right up there with the actual laughs. It’s clear just how topical she likes to stay from the titles of her recent stand-up tours alone: Hilarity Clinton ’08, and the current Lady HaHa, inspired by her love of Lady Gaga. Perhaps because of all the turmoil she’s seen since she started performing, Clinton proves a bit more even-tempered and wiser than your average stinging liberal commentator.
