Know Boundaries and Dumate at High Noon Saloon
Madison six-piece Know Boundaries, playing its final show here, has spent nine years backing up earnest hip-hop with a guitar-driven alt-rock edge, but simply calling it "rap-rock" would discredit the band's finesse. Rather than collide cheesy verse-barking with half-baked metal riffs, Know Boundaries' tunes come together via the funky side of rock and the already-rocking, aggressive side of hip-hop. Natty Nation members Jah Boogie and Aaron Konkol bring a bit of reggae to the mix, which adds some helpful connective material. As the band also prepares to drop its last CD, The Ghostpell According To Know Boundaries, MC Cloak remains in angry-lefty attack mode, while the band as a whole creates well-considered, driving, and dynamic arrangements.
