Kraak & Smaak and Fort Knox Five at Majestic Theatre
The Netherlands' Kraak & Smaak make electro tracks that go down like some neon-blue variation on a martini served atop a Fender Rhodes. The group also juices up those tracks with funk and mystique, not going too crazy on the layers but working occasional hints of reggae and pulsating ambient music into its swanky house-music foundation. The 2008 album Plastic People makes for a straightforward, funky-chill effect without getting dull, so it'll be interesting to see what K&S' members reach for in their DJ set here.
