The Low Czars

Sat Feb 13
10:30 pm
The Low Czars at Mickey's Tavern
Madison's The Low Czars elevate classic-rock covers to something of a refined art form, arranging everything from Kinks songs to obscure garage tunes with an attention to detail that suggests they've listened attentively to the hundreds of old 45s and LPs that feed their set lists. Saturday at Mickey's, the band will indulge in its annual specialty: Covering Love's 1967 album Forever Changes, the intricate folk-rock record to end all other folk-rock records. In past years, the band has shown a fine grasp of the album's mix of jangling guitars and moody melody, not to mention its vocal harmonies. After running through the entire LP, they'll return for a second set that draws on other Love albums.
