MMoCA Nights: The Best Of Rooftop Cinema at Madison Museum Of Contemporary Art
As a bonus to all the faithful fans of abstract shorts and experimental films, MMoCA’s Rooftop Cinema adds this “Best Of” night to its regular schedule. Featuring the works of J.J. Murphy, Owen Land, Jeanne Liotta, Bruce Connor, Charles and Ray Eames, and Frank and Caroline Mouris, the eclectic night of film includes a “romance activist” short and a hyper-speed montage featuring dance and vocals from ’80s singer Toni Basil, famous for her ubiquitous single “Mickey.” The last film on the night’s schedule is “Frank Film,” a disorienting barrage of stills and overlapping narration, incorporating nearly 30 years of images.
