Monotonix, The Hussy, and Screamin' Cyn Cyn And The Pons at The Frequency
Madison has gotten the Monotonix treatment several times in the past couple of years. The swarthy Israeli garage-rock trio orchestrates performance-art chaos that turns the crowd into a participatory sweat-pool, passing around increasingly slippery band members and their drums and guitar cables as they deconstruct the show while keeping it going. Instead of roaming the larger spaces and climbing the balconies of the High Noon Saloon or Majestic Theatre again, Monotonix now returns to try jamming all its madness and chest hair into the 99-capacity Frequency. Singer Ami Shalev is doggedly keeping at it despite breaking his leg at a January show in Florida, so we'll finally learn how to turn Madison's nicest, newest club into a jungle gym.
