A barely contained riot in the guise of a garage-rock trio, Tel Aviv’s Monotonix has established a ravenous following based on its unequaled reputation for danger. Live shows involve all hairy hell breaking loose: Drums are dismantled and reassembled in the crowd, singer Ami Shalev dives headfirst into trash cans and sets things on fire, and the showers of sweat become just another instrument in the band's anarchic assault. Until now, the constantly touring Monotonix hasn’t had an album that truly captures the experience of seeing it in the flesh, but all that’s changed with its full-length debut, Where Were You When It Happened?. Opening is Milwaukee power trio Call Me Lightning, whose forthcoming record, tentatively titled When I’m Gone My Blood Will Be Free, embraces a love for ’70s arena rock with a might that promises a fierce live set.
