Mother Culture, Ryan Traster, The Here And Now, and The Life I Lead at The Frequency
Threatening images of angry-looking gorillas dominate Mother Culture’s MySpace page, but the Kansas City band isn’t nearly as violent and abrasive as those furious primates might indicate, opting for dark melodies, pop-rock guitar, and emotive group vocals on this year’s Sold Your Voice EP. Surging songs like the self-titled track build on gently rippling synths, while Mother Culture creates a sound large enough to fill the room but delicate enough not to overpower everything in it.
