Her blend of folk earnestness and pop appeal are plenty familiar, yet her recent album for Atlantic Records, Is It OK, manages a touch of adult-contempo production while actually sharpening the impact of Ryder's songs. Ryder's voice and acoustic guitar cut a direct and mature path to the point of tunes like "All For Love" and "Little Bit Of Red." Besides, it's okay to get a bit sappy on a tune like "Weak In The Knees" when it's performed with a little craft and attention to detail.
