Over The Rhine at Majestic Theatre
There’s no rhyme or reason to the fact that Cincinnati’s Over The Rhine remained unknown while artists like Sarah McLachlan and Sixpence None The Richer managed to top the charts. Formed in the late ’80s, Over The Rhine’s pleasant, mature records have always been just as good—if not better—than its contemporaries. Though praised by tourmates and friends from Cowboy Junkies to Bob Dylan, the band never got its big break, but has nonetheless remained active over the years. Of the five studio albums released since 2001, 2007’s The Trumpet Child best conveys the sparse, atmospheric alt-pop that has made Over The Rhine a continuing—if underappreciated—success.
