Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Stoughton Opera House
A hallmark of New Orleans’ French Quarter, Preservation Hall has operated as a full-time music venue since 1961. Since then, the hall has juggled a big group of house musicians, some of whom stay home to play at the club while others hit the road to carry on the Big Easy jazz tradition. Here, the touring Preservation Hall Jazz Band is likely to dust off old classics and showcase newer material, perhaps from 2010’s Preservation. Proceeds from the album, which featured collaborations with artists including Tom Waits, Ani DiFranco, and Andrew Bird, benefited the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program, a project that educates young musicians in New Orleans’ brass band traditions.
