Of all the busy musicians in TV On The Radio, Kyp Malone may well be the busiest. The impressively bearded guitarist also plays in Iran, which released a new album earlier this year, and he's about to release his solo debut under the name Rain Machine. It's a fitting moniker: The tunes sound a bit like a rain dance—tribal bells, trance-inflected refrains, the occasional howl—but one that's been fed through the post-apocalyptic fury of TV On The Radio. The result proves a compelling sonic exploration, knotty and exultant as ever.
