Sat. Nite Duets, The Poison Control Center, and The Fatty Acids at Memorial Union Rathskeller
Milwaukee’s tireless Fatty Acids have become fixtures of the local music scene, thanks in part to a constant stream of boisterous, high-energy shows. The group’s 2010 debut, Stop Berries, Berries, And Berries, Berries, is a terrific album full of songs that lament problems both personal and political with quirky, psych-synth eccentricity. Against all odds, The Acids’ second full-length—which arrived in 2011—is neither a hasty rehash nor an unfocused departure. Instead, Leftover Monsterface manages to be quite different from Berries while still retaining the band’s definitive sound. The new album is less polished in terms of production and hooks—and it’s a little weirder—but it widens the group’s sonic scope and doesn’t rob fans of anything they would miss. Joining The Fatty Acids is the equally great Milwaukee band Sat. Nite Duets along with the headliner, Ames, Iowa ripper The Poison Control Center.
