Sherwood, Apparently Nothing, and The Cloth Sea at Majestic Theatre

California band Sherwood plays basically the same circuit that many whiny, over-produced young emo-pop bands play, but luckily doesn't quite fit in. It certainly has an element of those sounds, but tempers its blandness with softer, classier pop influences, favoring warm vocal harmonies and gentle piano melodies over plastic-toned guitar hooks and strained choruses. While the band's 2005 debut, Sing, But Keep Going, and the 2007 follow-up,  A Different Light, didn't hesitate to rock it up just a little, Sherwood manages to harness pop pleasantries with a touch that seems pretty damn restrained and mature for a band that's played the Warped Tour.
