Shinedown, Sick Puppies, Cavo, and Adelita's Way at Orpheum Theatre
Shinedown has been trying for years to be the next Creed, but (thankfully) the audience for bloated, megalomaniacal butt-rockers isn’t as big as it was earlier in the decade. Of course, the more certain bands get bogged down in that muddy path, the more they adopt a posture of offering something fresh. Perhaps that explains the title of Shinedown's latest, last year's The Sound Of Madness. While it's hardly the most sonically painful post-grunge knockoff—hell, some of the soaring choruses have a lot more snap to 'em than Creed's songs ever did—there's nothing to it that the past 10 years of modern-rock radio haven't already pummeled into the ground.
