Slappy Hour Variety Show at The Frequency
Madison pranksters The Gomers' every-other-Friday happy-hour show at The Frequency has kept its mix of local bands, comedy, and film nice and chaotic for just over a year now, and this week's installment keeps on bouncing across genres and media. In keeping with Slappy Hour's habit of incorporating the Gomers' wide variety of musical pals, locals Seven Stone Weaklings bring a dash of '70s punk to the proceedings, covering such bands as Stiff Little Fingers alongside some of their own original songs. The Gomers also have a knack for hunting down old film canisters full of weirdness, so expect some vintage commercials here. In addition, they've promised this show will include "live makeovers," and will also somehow honor the Jan. 8 birthdays of Elvis Presley and David Bowie.
