Sleeping In The Aviary, Vampire Hands, and Pale Young Gentlemen at High Noon Saloon

Minneapolis band Vampire Hands takes care to put some odd rhythmic hitches in its tattered psychedelic rock. The group's two drummers sometimes add a plaintive, loping feel to atmospheric vocal harmonies (which sound a bit like Fleet Foxes, but more stripped-down and weird) and creepy calypsos (which sound a bit like White Rabbits, but more stripped-down and weird). Despite the comparisons that crop up, VH's 2008 album, Me And You And Cherry Red, finds its own organically freaky dynamic. Here, the band is sandwiched between Sleeping In The Aviary and Pale Young Gentlemen, two Madison-spawned acts who need little introduction at this point, so don't be surprised if this show fills up. To enter to win a pair of tickets, email rsvpmadison@theonion.com with "Sleeping In The Aviary" in the subject line.
