Squarewave, Dreamers Of The Ghetto, and Little Legend at The Frequency

Attaching itself to memories of ’80s movie heroics, Dreamers Of The Ghetto makes it almost impossible not to picture John Bender pumping his fist at the end of The Breakfast Club when the stadium-sized beat of “State Of A Dream” intertwines with Luke Jones’ titanic, triumphant voice. Jones’ raspy power recalls Brian Adams’ most unabashed and wondrous moments of just belting it out while the band builds towering anthems like “Connection” on 2011’s Enemy/Lover. Even without the repeated shouts of affirmations, like “When you’re gone I know you’re with me,” every single of moment of the Bloomington, Indiana band’s debut would still uplift by virtue of sweet nostalgia and raw energy.
