Star Persons, K. Raydio, and Humpasaur Jones at Memorial Union Terrace
Madison’s Star Persons probably enjoys some grandfathered-in popularity: Members include Deken Frost of now-defunct hip-hop/rock hybrid Know Boundaries, keyboardist Aaron Konkol of reggae band Natty Nation, and producer Man Mantis of excellent local rap act Dumate. But the electro-pumped party jams—attached to a strange intergalactic soap opera in the group’s recent “Treat Yourself To Tuesday” song series—mine vastly different inspiration than group members’ other projects. Joining in the fun here are Twin Cities songstress K. Raydio and Chicago hip-hop anomaly Humpasaur Jones, who belies his goofy name with serious rhymes on “Funeral Groupies.”
