Starlight Cinema: Daniel Barrow: Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry at Frederic March Play Circle
The Union's ever-intriguing Starlight Cinema series of avant-garde film and multimedia performances returns for a spring run with Winnipeg artist Daniel Barrow, whose Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry hinges on a live stunt he calls "manual animation," combining imagery from an overhead projector with live music and video elements. Unlike many other experimental film pieces, Every Time has an acknowledged storyline, in which a garbage man with an artistic side goes around late at night, peeping in people's windows and finding personal information in their trash to piece together an "independent phone book" that catalogues their lives.
