Tani Diakite And His Desert Trance Infusion at Mickey's Tavern

Malian vocalist Tani Diakite is known both locally and internationally for his rhythmic mastery of the kamele ngoni—a stringed instrument made from calabash gourd and dried animal flesh. It’s also known that Diakite almost left a massive gap in Madison’s world music community after a 2010 automobile accident left him with horrific injuries, both internal and external. Thankfully, it seems that Diakite has made a full recovery and will once again be spurring the patrons of Mickey’s Tavern into dancing fits with help from his backing band, Desert Trance Infusion, via rattling, percussive walls of bouncing rhythms, and forceful melodies.
