Tantric, Burn Halo, Aranda, and The Vegas Syn at RSR Stage
While many bands trudging along in the wake of grunge simply drive the genre's sound to new lows with stale songwriting and garishly unsubtle production, Tantric singer Hugo Ferreira also manages to keep making the story weirder. The only original member left in the band, he's kept on rotating the lineup and attempting to vary the dull modern-rock sound with such elements as electric violin and the occasional piano. As the title track to the new Mind Control attests, this strange survivalist creature can still hack out passable singles and (stupid flying-V fiddle in tow or not) grind through new material without bothering to look beyond a thoroughly beaten-to-death formula.
