Taste Of Madison: Saturday at Capitol Square
In the song “Overblown”, Mudhoney’s Mark Arm spits out lines like “They gave you your very own spotlight / just like some real rock star,” and it’s hard not to imagine him singing with a picture of Candlebox in his white-knuckled fist. Of all the bands accused of moving to Seattle to cash in on the flannel sweepstakes, none was more picked on than the C-box, and with its obvious influence on bands like Creed and Silverchair, it’s not hard to see why the vehement dissing continues to this day. He who laughs last, though: The band’s first new album in a decade, 2008’s Into The Sun, debuted in the Billboard Top 40 albums chart and gave the group a new lease on life.
