Tom Hanson's one of those Madison musicians who appear to spend a lot of time off alone writing and recording songs, but not much time playing them out. When the singer-songwriter does poke his head out for a show, it's to rustle through nocturnal acoustic folk songs sung with a pronounced dash of Nick Drake. That reference point tends to hover over Hanson's music, but it's a credit to Hanson's own subtle touch and way with sparse, ambient arrangements. He's still working on a follow-up to his 2007 album, Everything Takes Forever. He says it might be a double-album, so this show will be a chance to hear plenty of new stuff.
