Underculture and The Seven Stone Weaklings at High Noon Saloon
Madison band Underculture is pretty stubborn about playing it old-school, stripping punk-rock and psychobilly sounds down to spare parts under bassist Blair Clark's mean, motor-oil-gargling vocals. Basic as it seems, the band's sound on its self-titled 2008 EP filled a little gap in Madison's musical needs, and tunes like "Garden Song," "Love This World," and "Talk Like A Hippie" show off more emotional range and a better sense of humor than most garage-rockin' tough guys' songwriting. The trio should have plenty of new songs here, as it's readying a new CD for release next month.
