Whitney Mann at Overture Center for the Arts - Overture Hall Lobby
Madison alt-country songstress Whitney Mann established herself as a smart songwriter with a crystalline voice on 2009’s splendid The Way Back Home EP, as well as a couple of dates opening for Willie Nelson and George Jones earlier this year. Now she’s out to prove her versatility with a monthly residency at Alchemy in Madison, where Mann will take requests via e-mail at byrequestwithwhitney@gmail.com. Mann prefers that the requests lean toward country, but she says she’ll try anything. While playing her own songs at this point would be more than enough, forcing herself to learn other people’s favorites should prove conclusively that Mann is a true crowd-pleaser.
