Wild And Scenic Environmental Film Festival

Tue Mar 9
7 pm
Wild And Scenic Environmental Film Festival at Majestic Theatre
The touring version of the Wild And Scenic Environmental Film Festival isn't too dourly focused on saving the planet to showcase some playful documentary and animated filmmaking. The biggest draw this year might be "Big River," in which Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis follow up on the acre of corn they planted for the 2007 documentary-experiment King Corn, and find that it's sent pesticide, soil, and much more streaming down the Mississippi toward the Gulf of Mexico. (All the more appropriate that the festival's Madison stop is sponsored by the River Alliance of Wisconsin.) The evening's program of eco-centric shorts also includes the adorable stop-motion animation of "The New Species," in which a family of bugs goes on a picnic, only to have an insect-collecting human ruin the day. For a chance to win a pair of tickets to this show, email rsvpmadison@avclub.com with "Wild And Scenic" in the subject line.
