Brasserie V, opened by the former owners of Relish Deli, dances around that distinction by creating a warm, cozy atmosphere to serve imaginative cuisine. The focus and highlight of the menu are the frites—choose from just a cone of frites, mussels and frites, or steak and frites (or portobello mushroom, for vegetarians). If you can make it for lunch, though, the real stars are the sandwiches, made on Madison Sourdough’s freshly baked bread and piled high with layers of delicious combinations, like smoked chicken and Hook’s blue cheese.
