Brocach is only one of the mushrooming number of Irish pubs in town, but it’s a clear frontrunner for Madison’s favorite. Its weathered interior begs you to grab a barstool and a Guinness, and the food is authentic Irish with upgrades. The smoked salmon platter includes lemon crème fraiche, and the Mediterranean meze platter definitely didn’t hail from County Cork, but it’s still good. For sticklers, there’s bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, and Irish stew. Don’t miss the Dublin City Burger, an Angus beef patty laden with Irish cheddar sauce, double-smoked bacon, sauteed crimini mushrooms, onion strings, and Guinness stout sauce. It’s only for the, um, “stout” of heart.
