Hidden away inside the Madison Concourse Hotel, the Dayton Street Grille (the old name, Ovations, still appears on the window) serves surprisingly good, upscale food. The lunchtime all-you-can-eat salad bar, one of few downtown, features familiar varieties of greens, veggies, meats, and dressings, as well as five soups. Dinner entrées include pork, vegetable crêpes, scallops, and steak, and come paired with your choice of three sweet, savory, or spicy sauces like corn relish and chipotle barbecue sauce. Breakfast consists of a daily “I’m in a hotel” continental breakfast buffet and a menu of tasty vanilla-bean French toast and a pepper- and pico de gallo-filled Spanish omelet to make that feeling go away.
