El Pastor’s unpromising exterior on Park Street belies the wonders inside. Since this place specializes in foods from central Mexico, the juicy pastor (pork) tacos are the specialty of the house, served on corn tortillas and topped with onions and cilantro. Steak, lamb, chicken, seafood, and a number of vegetarian options are available in tacos, quesadillas, and tortas, and even over rice and beans. You’ll also find huitlacoche here, the corn fungus Mexican delicacy that’s mostly unappreciated in the U.S. If you want to interact with your server beyond pointing and nodding, a minimal amount of Spanish will be helpful.
