venue Le Chardonnay

Le Chardonnay’s interior mixes a French feel with chef Sami Fgaier’s Tunisian roots: Huge arabesque textiles hang next to French doors and vintage Stella Artois posters. The current menu seems to downplay the Euro-Afro fusion a bit, featuring Gallic classics like escargots and filet mignon, but also unusual twists like a raisin-infused vegetarian napoleon and a spicier-than usual bouillabaisse. A notable non-French exception is the Wednesday build-your-own-paella special, allowing diners to bring together such ingredients as chorizo, octopus, and fava beans. The Tuesday night all-you-can-eat moules frites (mussels with fries) is the ultimate in high-class-low-class fusion, featuring dipping sauces from dieppoise to barbecue.
