An intriguing mixture of upscale and down-to-earth, “the Star” serves high-class, high-price French cuisine while keeping its remarkable commitment to making local farm suppliers part of the story. The seasonal menu changes depending on what comes from the dozens of Wisconsin farmers L’Etoile relies on. The most recent menu features such works of food art as rockfish with sun gold tomatoes, niçoise olives, and caramelized fennel, and New York strip steak with haricots verts, cipollini onion confit, and bone marrow. Breakfast and lunch can be had downstairs at Café Soleil, and cooking classes are offered as well.
