“Pug mahone” can loosely be translated from Gaelic as “kiss my ass,” which obviously isn’t the most endearing sentiment; but for this place, the tongue-in-cheekiness totally works. Putting on no airs, Pug Mahone’s is a meat-and-potatoes-type joint, perfectly suited to its East Wash locale with a pool table, dartboards, and a bar-top video slot machine. The burgers and fries are solid and satisfying, and daily specials like the chicken parm sandwich and a Friday night fish-fry round out the mostly lunch-bucket approach.
