It takes a bold restaurant to completely change its cuisine and menu, especially one as popular and beloved as Restaurant Magnus. But that's what Magnus recently did, transforming itself from South American to Scandinavian. Thankfully, it's gone "New Scandinavian," so there's not a hint of lutefisk in sight. The new menu features exotic game like venison, quail, and wild boar, as well as Nordic flavors applied to more familiar foods like fennel-dill cured salmon, smoked scallops and pickled shrimp, and beef tenderloin grilled with a cardamom rub. The cocktail menu spans the globe (with Scandinavian tongue in cheek), from the Viking (port, vodka, and blackberry liqueur) to Ole Goes to Tokyo (green tea, sake, vodka, and lime).
