What is the Fourth Of July if not an excuse to see stuff get blowed up real good? One of the biggest fireworks shows in the city is the hour-long U.S. Bank Big Bang Fireworks show down at Veterans Park on the downtown lakefront, which starts tonight at 9 p.m. Some people start setting up their chairs for this thing 12 hours in advance, but you ought to have a good-enough view from your porch if you live within a couple of miles.
If you want to see Fourth Of July fireworks on the actual Fourth Of July, you have plenty of options. Shows will get started all over town at around 9:15 p.m. at the following parks: Alcott Park, Gordon Park, Humboldt Park, Lake Park, Lincoln Park, Mitchell Park, Noyes Park, and Washington Park.
