According to TripAdvisor.com, Wisconsin’s fugitive senators stayed at a crappy hotel
Amidst all the crazy things that have transpired in Wisconsin politics over the last several days came the news that 14 state Senators had fled the state Thursday in order to delay the vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget legislation. Media eventually tracked the senators down at the Clock Tower Resort And Conference Center in Rockford, Illinois.
Wisconsin Democrats going fugitive sparked another series of hotly debated questions: Were these elected official shirking their public oaths? Was not voting the only responsible action they could’ve taken? Most importantly, why were they staying at, of all places, the Clock Tower Resort And Conference Center in Rockford, Illinois?
Based on the reviews posted on TripAdvisor.com, our outlaw senators have truly been roughing it lately. The Clock Tower Resort has a mediocre three-star rating (on a five-star scale) after 86 reviews. Among the most enthusiastic reviewers is “rlmdjm,” who enjoyed “the food, staff and the water park.” (There’s a water park? That explains a lot.) Unfortunately, there’s a dark side to this waterslide oasis from the rigors of democracy, as expressed by “mhaase915,” who recounts the following harrowing story.
When we were coming in, a group of young men, were hanging out, smoking at the doorway. I did not feel safe approaching them in the dark night. They probably worked there and wanted a smoke break, but right at the door???
The senators have apparently since left the hotel, and nobody is quite sure where they are, according to the Journal Sentinel. If our senators don’t come home by Saturday, call the front desk.
