Just Announced Andrew Bird at Riverside Theater

His classical training and considerable technical skills aside, Andrew Bird attacks his elaborately crafted pop collages with a puckish sense of experimentalism. Live, Bird creates unique sounds via his use of stomp-box samplers, which loop and layer pizzicato and bowed violin, guitar, and his own whistling into a lush sonic tapestry. Bird’s latest album, Useless Creatures, is an ambient instrumental record that was originally packaged as part of the deluxe edition of 2009’s Noble Beast, but was released on its own last year.

On the heels of the upcoming Break It Yourself, Bird will stop by the Riverside Theater March 24, 2012 (and will be joined by comedian Eugene Mirman). To celebrate the release of the new record, fans will be entitled to three freebies along with tickets to the show: a live, five-song EP, Fake Conversations, from Bird’s Fall 2011 tour; a digital copy of Break It Yourself; and a live, five-song digital EP from the upcoming Spring 2012 tour. Reserved seating tickets are $32.50, and go on sale Dec. 9 at noon.
