Just Announced Bon Iver at Riverside Theater

The Eau Claire folkie will perform an AIDS benefit Oct. 11

When Justin Vernon of Bon Iver was tapped to be the honorary chair of this year’s AIDS Walk Wisconsin, you had to figure that a full-fledged concert was probably around the corner. This morning it was confirmed: Bon Iver will visit Riverside Theater Oct. 11 for what is being billed as the band’s last Wisconsin show of the year. (Which also means it’s the last show of the decade! Yowsa!) So, if you’re a big fan of seeing Bon Iver in the aughties, you’ll want to pick up a $25 ticket when it goes on sale at noon Friday August 21. (Vernon will also be performing a short acoustic set at the Summerfest grounds earlier in the day.)

The opener will be Vernon’s Eau Claire neighbors The Daredevil Christopher Wright, though The A.V. Club wonders whether Milwaukee’s Collections Of Colonies Of Bees will also make an appearance. Volcano Choir, Vernon’s highly anticipated collaboration with CoCoBees, will release its debut record Unmap Sept. 22, so a song or two would just be good ol’ fashioned music promotion. In the meantime, enjoy this clip of Bon Iver performing “The Wolves” in June at Glastonbury. (Hat tip to Muzzle Of Bees.)
