Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon will not be sitting in with The Roots on tonight’s Jimmy Fallon, apparently
It seems that the dream team of Justin Vernon and The Roots that was scheduled to take Late Night With Jimmy Fallon by storm tonight has gone the way of the folksy, funky dodo. Yesterday, Late Night music booker Jonathan Cohen announced that the Bon Iver frontman would be “sitting in” with The Roots for Fallon’s Jan. 19 show. But earlier today, Vernon tweeted:
Again, roots thing aint happenin’. ;(
Cohen broke the news via Twitter, as well:
@blobtower and the Roots postponed for today, but watch the Late Night Web site in the next couple weeks for something very cool.
No explanation has been given for the “postponement,” though Vernon’s previous run-in with Roots drummer ?uestlove couldn’t be the culprit, could it? Either way: ;(
UPDATE: A tweet from ?uestlove sheds a little light on the “something very cool” Cohen alludes to:
Did a mammoth awesome remix “Perth” jam w/ @blobtower. Best pre bday gift ever. Maybe one day the public will hear it. #tease
