- Altos to provide original, 18-person score for 2013 Milwaukee Film Fest centerpiece event
- Here’s the full (and really, really good) lineup for the 2013 Summer Soulstice Music Festival
- Post-hiatus Widespread Panic returns to Milwaukee September 26, 27, 28

- Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward—a.k.a. She & Him—to play Riverside Theater June 28
Given how cartoony heavy metal can seem—what with all of the corpse paint, goat’s blood, and other bombastic excesses—it’s somehow sensible that the virtual melodic death metal band Deathklok, from Adult Swim’s animated Metalocalypse series, has risen to the top of the genre.
This summer, Deathklok is setting out on a co-headlining tour with real-life, non-cartoon metalcore act Lamb Of God, and will make a Milwaukee stop Aug. 9 at The Rave. Because cartoons are not real and cannot interact with our boring, flesh-and-blood world (contra lessons you’ve learned from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Cool World), live Dethklok is rounded out by Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small, drummer Gene Hoglan, guitarist Mike Keneally, and bassist Bryan Beller. Small is currently working on the third Dethklok album titled, appropriately, Dethalbum III.
