Celebrate National Pancake Day by eating free pancakes at IHOP
The pancake versus waffle debate will probably be around until humanity’s last flickering light. But, considering it’s still an entire half a year until National Waffle Day (Aug. 24! Mark your calendars!), we’re going to have side firmly with pancakes today, which just so happens to be National Pancake Day.
And while we certainly wouldn’t discourage anyone from cracking open a box of pancake mix to make a home batch, we’d be remiss not the mention that IHOP, the International House Of Pancakes, is serving up free short stacks to customers all day, with the hopes of raising $2.7 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other designated local charities. During last year’s event, the chain served 4 million pancakes and raised $2.5 million for the charity.
IHOP was even offering wake-up calls for those who wanted to beat the inevitable rush of crowds (have you ever seen a Jimmy John’s when it’s giving out free subs?) recorded by the likes of celebrities such as NFL Hall Of Famer Chris Young, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, Children’s Miracle Network co-founder Marie Osmond, and someone from the Twilight films who is apparently named Booboo Stewart.
We don’t care. We just want pancakes.
