Power-pop and free beer usher in the weekend
The Reckless Hearts
Milwaukee band The Reckless Hearts is a relatively new name on the local music scene, though there are some familiar faces in its ranks, including members of ’60s-worshipping groups The Danger and The Jet Set. But while The Danger had an aggressive punk-rock edge, The Reckless Hearts are a power-pop band through and through, with songs like “Yer A Blur” recalling the guitar-heavy melodies of ’90s bands like The Posies and Teenage Fanclub. The band will launch a tour in support of its new debut full-length, Get Up And Run, with a show tonight at Stonefly. For a sneak preview, check out this podcast the band recently recorded for Radio Milwaukee.
In the interest of blatant self-promotion, Decider also must mention The Onion Society For Beer Enjoyment meeting tonight at Karma. Stop by from 7 to 9 p.m. and enjoy complimentary Lakefront Monkey Wheat beer. All you have to do is RSVP here.
